What did you do there? What were the results? Why are you leaving? They have to have a good concrete reason. 0:30 It can’t just be like, oh I’m looking for more money. I’m not saying we won’t pay people more money, and I’m just saying they have to have a good reason. Like, oh I’m not learning enough or oh, something wasn’t promised that I was being got, right. They have a good reason for leaving and the reason I say that is any time you guys are hiring if you’re not hiring people if you’re hiring people who keep leaving jobs, they’re considered like hoppers. 1:00 But if you hire people who stick around, from previous companies, as they stay there for years, they’re much more likely to stick around with your business. You’re not going to have to keep replacing. It’s costly to continue to hire new people for the same role. 1:15 How to Hire Employees Tip #2 In addition to that, you want to make sure that that person can produce. So, I ask ’em, “Hey, if you’re doing this role “within my company, what would you do?” And I’m not looking for overall arching strategies; I’m looking for specific tactics. There’s a lot of people who can read, but there are very few people who can implement. I’m looking for executors. 1:35 How to Hire Employees Tip #3 Then I want references of their old employers. Of course, if they have a current job, I can’t call their current boss, but I would call other previous ones, and I tell them, I’d call them because we do, and we do reference checks. And, it’ll be funny because most people think like oh no one does reference checks. We do reference checks, and we find out about the person, and you’ll learn a lot of exciting things such as their weaknesses, their strengths. 2:00 You don’t go ask a former employer, “Hey, “what do you think about this person? “Should I hire ’em?” Most times they lie, or they won’t tell you the truth. We try to find out what are their strengths, what are their weaknesses, what do you see them as their ideal role within an organization? 2:15 How to Hire Employees Tip #4 Things that are more actionable so that way we know where they fit in and then we also have other people on the team ideally, interview them for a cultural fit. If someone’s not a cultural fit, even if they’re an incredible talent, they’re willing to take the pay that you’re offering, you think they’ll do well, but if they’re not a cultural fit, they’re going to ruin the company atmosphere, and they’re not going to last long. 2:30 That is one of the most important things that people take for granted. But that’s our process for hiring, and it takes roughly 30 days from when we interview someone before they start because two weeks notice, have to go through the checks and the balances, multiple people within our organization need to interview, but that’s how we hire people. The second thing you need to do is set up a website. Go to wordpress.org or wordpress.com, set up your own website. It could be a blog, could be a blogging platform, it doesn’t matter. That’s just the first thing you need to do. Without your own website, you won’t know how to implement these tactics, practice, or get good at it. The third thing you need to do is write content. When you have your website, if you don’t have content, you’re not gonna rank. As the saying goes, content is king. Publish content on whatever you’re passionate about. The fourth thing is you need to build links. When it comes to building links, if no one’s linking to your website, you won’t rank. Then, when you take those articles, you can put ’em into Ahrefs. It’ll show you all the people linking to ’em. On top of links, you now need to then start getting social shares. Then, I want you to follow all the popular marketing blogs, from Backlinko to Moz, to hey, even me, neilpatel.com. All of these marketing blogs will break out the latest and greatest tactics and techniques. By reading ’em on a regular basis, you’ll learn ’em, you’ll stay on top of the curve, so that way, you’ll do better than most people in the SEO industry. And last but not least, be patient. You’re not gonna climb to the top of Google in a month, or even three months or six months. It takes longer and longer each and every single year because the web is more competitive. There’s roughly 1.7 or 1.8 billion websites on the Internet. That’s roughly four websites, technically one website for every four people. That’s a lot of websites, and blogs, there’s over a billion. That’s roughly one blog for every seven people. That’s too many sites to choose from. Because that Google now says, hey, there’s a lot of people talking about the same content over and over again, let’s pick the ones that are more up-to-date or more authority. It makes it that much harder for you to get rankings. For that reason, you need to learn to be patient. If you do this consistently for six months to a year, you’ll get results.

You’ve got a localized business. Why aren’t you ranking on Google? Why aren’t you optimizing it for search engines? You can.
Today I’m going to share with you how to do local SEO for brick and mortar businesses.
The first thing you need to know about is Google My Business.
Google My Business allows you to submit your localized business to Google, where you’re putting in your company name, your address, your phone number. Once you’re listed in there, you can rank in the localized pack.
The localized box is whenever you search for, let’s say, a pizza restaurant on your mobile phone, you’re getting all these localized listings.
That’s a localized pack. And you want to be in there because if you’re in there, you’re going to get more business.
The next thing you want to do for local SEO is get the reviews. When you get reviews, you’re going to rank higher. So the more people that say you’re amazing and that you have a good product or service, the better off you’re going to be.
So within your storefront, tell people, “Hey, rate us on Google. “Leave a review. “Leave a rating.” And you’ll find a lot of people will. Everyone these days is focusing on Yelp reviews.
Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with Yelp, but why not also focus on Google?
Because that allows you to rank higher. The next thing you want to do is make sure you include your address, the name of your business, and the phone number on your contact page. By doing that, when people are searching localized queries, you’re much more likely to pop up.
The next tip for local SEO is if your website is running on WordPress, use the Yoast SEO plugin. It’ll optimize your website without you even being technical. You don’t need to pay an agency thousands of dollars.
You don’t have to pay a marketing agency. If you’re a localized mom and pop business, just go out there, use the Yoast SEO plugin on your WordPress site, and it’ll pretty much optimize most of the things you need to do. If you’re not running WordPress, then that’s fine. You can just go in there, address your title tags to include your keywords, your meta description to include your keywords and make sure you include the keywords you’re going after within the text or pages of your website.
If you don’t have the keywords, how will Google know what to rank you about? Then you want to create more content.
So if you’re a pizza shop and you want to boost your local SEO, you want to write content about pizza, how to make amazing pizzas, how to make them taste better, how to cook them, all this kind of stuff. I understand you’re not in the business of teaching people how to make pizza, but by writing all this content about pizza and flavors and if it goes with wine or it doesn’t and all these kind of articles, you’re more likely to rank for all the pizza terms within your city.
And last but not least, to build your local SEO sign up for Google Search Console. Within Google Search Console, you can find out what issues Google has to your site, what errors they’re finding. You can submit your sitemap.
If you don’t have a sitemap, just go and create an XML sitemap. If you Google for it, there’s a lot of free tools out there that create sitemaps for you. And you can specify which location your business is doing business as.
You can pick which region, especially if you’re a national business or you’re focusing on the United States, because sometimes you’re localized, and you have a small mom and pop stores all over the United States. And you can do that within Google Search Console, in which you can identify which region you’re going after.

They’ll sample the data unless you pay like a hundred or a hundred and fifty grand or whatever their price is per year. Google Analytics will show you how people are engaging throughout your site and what traffic sources are causing most conversions. Don’t optimize for traffic. Optimize for traffic that
causes conversions. 3:00 The second digital marketing tool I have for you is Ubersuggest. You’re going to want to get rankings. You’re going to want more search traffic. It’s the most consistent traffic that you’ll get. Yes. Social media traffic is easier and quicker to get. But Google’s algorithm updates aren’t as crazy as Facebook’s. It won’t be where one day you’re getting 300,000 visitors from Facebook organic reach and the next day you’re getting 10,000 visitors. Google’s organic traffic is very, very consistent. So use Ubersuggest. 3:40 The third digital marketing tool I have for you is Google Search Console.
We love doing this internally, where we take Google search console, we log in; we look at all the posts, how many impressions they get, how many clicks they get and the click-through rate. We look for the posts that get less than a five percent click-through rate. We look at all the keywords that were getting impressions from that post, and then we integrate those keywords into that blog post or that landing page, and we rewrite that content. 7:30 The fourth digital marketing tool is Crazyegg. Crazyegg shows me how people are engaging with my website. How far they’re scrolling. Where they’re clicking. It allows me to take that data and, within Crazyegg, you don’t have to be a
developer, you don’t have to be a designer. You can adjust your page and run A/B tests to maximize your sales. Because it’s not just about getting traffic, it’s about converting those visitors into conversions. Another tool that I love using is called Subscribers. It’s through push notifications. People will come through to your website, but they don’t come back. 8:00 The fifth digital marketing tool is called Subscribers. It’s through push notifications. People will come through to your website, but they don’t come back. What it does is it puts a little browser notification when people come to your site and gets them to
subscribe without being obtrusive, it does it all within the browser. 9:00 The last digital marketing tool that I’m going to give you guys that you guys should check out is HubSpot. HubSpot’s a great tool to look at your overall marketing, your lead count. It integrates marketing with sales, and that’s why I want to end with HubSpot. I love it. I use it, and sure some people may say “Hey, there are other tools that do this or that.” HubSpot has a lot of free plans, and they have some startup plans, which is very entrepreneur friendly, and best of all is they keep adding more and more stuff for free, so why not? They’re a huge
billion dollar company that are trying to crush their competitors, so they’re just releasing a lot of stuff for free. Hey, that’s for your benefit. 10:00 All this data and these digital marketing tools, with no action, is useless. You’re better off saving the money and not even paying or using any of them.
